Grassroots Motorsports 200 Snow Days I bought this sacrifcial Miata specifcally to run in Lime Rock Park's winter autocross program," writes Jeff Woodford, known to our message board community as Woody. "It's basically stock, with the exception of a set of Flyin' Miata sway bars. It was a one-owner car that sat unused for a few years. I gave it a thorough cleaning, changed the timing belt, water pump and pul- leys, added a set of General Altimax winter tires, and then had a great time blasting through the snow." Winter autocross? Yes, this past winter Lime Rock Park fred up some snow-making equipment so they could offer winter programs. "Once I factored in the time and fuel costs that would be involved in trailering a car north to go ice racing, not to mention the stress of towing a trailer in the winter, playing in the snow at Lime Rock started to sound like a reasonable alterna- tive," Jeff continues. Despite snow deep enough to scrape the oil pan, the Miata did well, he reports: "There were only two of us who didn't need to get towed out at any point: myself and a guy in an Audi S5."
