I gave it a thorough cleaning, changed the timing belt, water pump and pul- leys, added a set of General Altimax winter tires, and then had a great time blasting through the snow." Winter autocross? Yes, this past winter Lime Rock Park fred up some snow-making equipment so they could offer winter programs. "Once I factored in the time and fuel costs that would be involved in trailering a car north to go ice racing, not to mention the stress of towing a trailer in the winter, playing in the snow at Lime Rock started to sound like a reasonable alterna- tive," Jeff continues. Despite snow deep enough to scrape the oil pan, the Miata did well, he reports: "There were only two of us who didn't need to get towed out at any point: myself and a guy in an Audi S5."
