Grassroots Motorsports 180 EVENTS: WORLD CHALLENGE CLASS CHEAT SHEET The Pirelli World Challenge season will again feature seven classes for production-based vehicles: GT: Look for FIA GT3 versions of the Aston Martin Vantage, Audi R8, Bentley Continental, BMW Z4, Cadillac ATS, Dodge Viper, Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Gallardo, McLaren 650S, Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911. Limited-production race cars like the Acura TLX-GT are also welcome. GTA: This is a separate points race for non-professional GT-class drivers. GT Cup: This spec subclass for the Porsche 991 Cup Car runs alongside GT. Grand Touring Sport (GTS): Expect 2+2 and two-seaters like the Aston Martin Vantage GT4, Chevrolet Camaro Z28, Ford Mustang Boss 302, Nissan 370Z and Porsche Cayman S as well as turbocharged, small-bore cars like the Kia Optima. Touring Car (TC): It's a mix of smaller-bore cars that make about 300 horsepower: Ford Mustang V6, Mazda MX-5, Nissan Altima, Porsche Cayman, Volkswagen Jetta GLI and more. Touring Car A (TCA): Think of it as a lower-cost, lower-horsepower alterna- tive to Touring Car featuring machines like the Honda Civic Si, Kia Forte Koup, Mazda RX-8 and Scion FR-S. Touring Car B-Spec (TCB): Com- pact cars like the Chevy Sonic, Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit, Mazda2 and MINI Cooper running approved suspension kits. QUICK CLIPS The RealTime Racing Acuras have been a Pirelli World Challenge staple for many years, and this year team boss Peter Cunningham is joined by Ryan Eversley in the group's new GT-class TLX-GT. On Sunday, Eversley scored his frst win. Despite racing nearly every- thing everywhere, Guy Cosmo made his Pirelli World Chal- lenge debut at COTA in an Audi R8 Ultra.
