STEP 7: ADMIRE YOUR MOUNTING EARS Our mounting ears are mirror images of each other. Note that they're rough-cut–we still needed to do some trimming and ftting. STEP 8: TIME TO TEST-FIT Sure enough, there were some ft issues once we bolted them up and put them in position. STEP 9: MAKE ADJUSTMENTS Several rounds of ftting, adjusting, re-ftting and more adjusting ensued. We used an imported 14-inch sander for this job, but almost any type of sander or grinder could have worked. We con- fess that we got too aggressive with our adjusting and had to remake one of the mounts. Mistakes happen, and we just fxed ours and moved on. HOW TO: ENGINE SWAPS 7 8 9
