Grassroots Motorsports 144 E ach year, the Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals adopts a theme. It's usually just something to tie together the collateral materials and present the event in a coherent way. This year, however, something seemed to resonate a little deeper with the gathered masses on Lincoln Air- park's vast expanse of concrete. The Concrete Beach Party theme was an attempt to continue to position the event as a social gathering as much as a competitive endeavour. In truth, it already was, but a little reinforce- ment never hurts. And the theme certainly struck a chord among the nearly 1200 competitors in attendance. The huge Lincoln paddock seemed downright tropical at times, and the party lasted until the last cone was plucked from the tarmac. Despite the cool nature of the event, the competition was as red hot as ever. 1. D Street Prepared is the dominion of fat-tired BMW sedans and coupes. Doug Rowse's four-door 330i bested the two-door variant of John V 2. Kate Regannie moved fr second and a half.
